NeuRRo Lab Tour with Avalon Housing
Post date: Oct 1, 2018 7:34:31 PM
Tom Augenstein lead a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) outreach activity for Avalon Housing. During the outreach, middle school students were exposed to cutting-edge research in the field of rehabilitation, learned about the use of low-cost technologies for rehabilitation, and received hands-on experience to gain an understanding of EMG (muscle activity), EEG (brain activity), passive robotics, motion capture, and principles of motor learning. The exit survey indicated that most of the students enjoyed their visit and the outreach experience increased their interest towards pursuing a degree in STEM. Kudos to Tom and others (Amanda, Adam, Peter, and Avi) who assisted in the outreach, and thanks to National Science Foundation and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation for their support.
